Meet Nyemade Boiwu

Nyemade is an award-winning speaker, writer and digital content strategist. As a plus-size, female, African immigrant who grew up in conservative upstate New York she’s passionate about using her voice help bridge the gap between various groups of people. She strives to use her talent for communication to raise awareness about various social issues and encourage individuals to see things from the perspective of others.
She’s had a 12 year career at one of the leading banks in the country. During her time there she’s held various leadership roles, both in her job role as well as for employee groups such as the Toastmasters and the Diversity and Inclusion Network. She’s been responsible for creating or restructuring the training curriculum for multiple lines of business. She’s facilitated numerous focus groups with the intent of identifying and improving associate satisfaction. Nyemade has also been the liaison between the bank and various community non-profits to help organize volunteers and fundraising efforts.
When she’s not working at her full time job she also runs her own Virtual Assistant business – African Butterfly Business Solutions. She does social Media Management, digital marketing, event planning, and a whole host of other task small business owners may need assistance with. She also recently launched National Plus Guide. It will provide one location for individuals to go to find things like stores, local boutiques, doctors, events, etc. The goal is for it to be the ultimate directory for all things plus-size positive.
In addition to her career, helping others has always been important to her. Since moving to DE Nyemade has been immersed with the community. She tries to attend events and support local organizations whenever possible. She’s a community presenter for NAMI Delaware, the Executive Director for Every Man Counts, as well as the Program Director for Empower & Educate. She also gives presentations on the “Dos & Don’ts of Social Media” to various youth organizations. Nyemade feels strongly about trying improve the lives of others in any way she can.
Using her talent for communication is the main way she tries to have a positive impact. Nyemade has a YouTube channel where she provides recaps about community events she attends. She also vlogs about her weight loss journey. She’s been published in the Delaware News Journal, on the NAMI blog, and recently landed her own column on the digital media site – National Black Guide. Nyemade hosts monthly “Community Conversations” in an effort to get individuals from different backgrounds together to have open dialogue about social issues. She’s also been the Social Media Correspondent for various community events including the Girls Can Do Anything Conference, the Academy for Peace – Peace Café, the Black Gold Club Networking Mixer, India Sage’s 100 Better Days Book Launch – and many others.
More than anything Nyemade believes in collaboration over competition. She loves working with individuals and groups from all backgrounds so don’t hesitate to reach out!
